Thanks for posting the reverse of the photos, I will run this by a friend that can perhaps translate the script and see what he can come up with?

great photo (post 537) you posted today clearly showing the frostbite fighting felt winter boots (Filzstiefel) in wear!

          Happy Hunting!

Kevin & Edward...Thanks! Any info would be appreciated since I still haven't unpacked all my book references yet.

Here are two more LWFD photos that recently arrived and not associated with the grouping I posted.

Dec12 - LWFD men trying to get their vehicle running again in the winter wonderland of Russian....Unit Emblem is on the fender.

Very nice additions ! The last FD serie is very interesting. Most of the men seem to be of a Flak unit, in fact. The wear of Fj. pants is well confirmed in FDiv. As I have showed in a old thread, that typ of pant was certainly written on their Soldbuch.

                  Luft 76,

Yes..many of them appear to be flak which is not unusual in a LWFD. I too had addressed the wear of FJ Trousers in this thread years ago when I posted a number of photos out of three LWFD photo albums that I have in my collection. Also I would like to mention that there is a high proportion of wear of the one button M43 caps which you normally see worn by FJ's.

                  Bill

It's true and it's because many Felddivision troops have received plenty of the first Lw Bergmütze (different of the Einheitfeldmütze) created in 42, in the same time of the Tarnjacke with buttons.
