Thank you for sharing your two POW photos. Is there any reason why you covered up some of the information on the photo? I understand copy protection of the photo itself but it would be interesting to see what other information is on the photo. Thanks again!
June10 - POW Camp 133 Ottawa Canada - I picked up a stack of POW in Canada Portraits this weekend. This one is very interesting as it sports a SS Mann wearing his SS Heimwehr DANZIG Cufftitle!!
Now that is the first pic I have seen of an SS man in uniform in captivity on the North American continent. Even rarer still is the Heimwehr Danzig title, which I thought was withdrawn after the conclusion of the Polish campaign.
I wonder if he was captured early on in the war?
A family friend is turning 90 this year. He was DAK and ended up in a New Mexico POW camp. I have searched this thread and only came up with a verbal reference to this camp, one of Bill's I think. Does anyone have any photos of this camp? He said that he was also in a camp in Maryland. Perhaps a transition camp? If you do have a photo, is it possible to get a "clean" (no watermarks) copy of the picture? It would be super if one of those group shots were avilable, Erwin is still sharp as a tack and could quite possibly ID the other fellows.
