Great pictures you have guys! I have no SS pictures to show, only would try to comment on Simon's picture in reply # 34. IMO, this is a Hurricane, not a Spitfire. And I would say it is not downed, but destroyed on the ground, either by bomb/fire attack from the air, or by ground fire. Looking at the background, I believe it is found in an airfield aircraft "pillbox" - shealters made of earth and/or sandbags at the airfield, to protect the aircraft from being attacked while on the ground. RAF Hurricanes were deployed both in France and Norway early in the war /at least one squadron in Norway and at least 3-4 in France/.
