    Help Needed

I recently found this picture in one of my grandmother’s albums. Both of her parents were German and immigrated here in the early 1900’s. Hoping someone might be able to translate what’s written on the back of it.

    Thanks in advance.

      Thanks in advance.

The text on the bottom is from the photography shop; it basically states the negative (or plate, in this case) is available for further copies or enlargements.

Thanks for your quick reply, even though we're still not sure if he is related or not at least we know who he is.

With the uniform he is wearing "Infanterie" would make sense.

Trying to get hold of my cousin who did the family tree some years ago to see what info she might have.

Gerdan, thanks for the info on the town where he was stationed.

More or less: The royal and imperial war ministry names you as of 1 May 1913 to the rank of artillery ordnance official in the rank list on 1 May 1913, rank no. 5. ladida ladida.....Vienna, 28 April 1913 for the minister Arthur von ....

his "well-born"(upper class) Mr. Royal-and-Imperial Artillery Ordnance ladida Johann Baltean of the Artillery Deport in Gynlafeherver (sp?)

I have presented it in an approximate English equivalent for an official rank promotion document stated in courtly (ladida) language. Just in time for the Great War.......
