                Hello!

Could anyone translate this for me? Does not need to be word-by-word and confirm the name of the General? I read M. Heinicke? However, I could not find a General by this name...

                Thank you!

                        Dear Gerdan,

That would make sense. Enclosed is the likeness of the General. He lived in Dresden and looks to be a Saxon General, so it fits! Note the neck awards and the really large EK!

                        Thank you for this!

Is there anything else of substance in that text?

                        Kind wishes,

In the history of Festung Königstein I found:

"Letzter Kommandant der Festung Königstein war bis 1913 der Oberstleutnant Heinicke."

                          http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festung_K%C3%B6nigstein

Could be that he was promoted later to General.

                              Weird coincidence?

Here is a picture of an Afrika Korps pith helmet I have that also belonged to an Obergefreiter Licht! A look on the graebersuche online website shows dozens of Lichts but fortunately only one obergefreiter in the Afrika Korps, that being a Georg Licht that was killed in Libya in 1942 and is buried in the Tobruk military cemetery. Could it be the same guy's helmet?
