I'm having a little trouble working out a good translation of the following.

"Das Ewige ist stille, Laut die Vergänglichkeit schweigend geht Gottes Wille, Über dem Erdenstreit"

Not sure how transience fits with quarrel on earth etc..

It's the message on a carved oak Familien Urkundentruhe (Urkunden Truhe?) for the fallen sons of the family.

This is indeed Harstad in North Norway - the city where I was born and raised.

Leander H; I would shure love some copies of those pics.

Picture 1 is taken from "Stortorget" showing "Strandgata" facing north.

Picture 2 is taken from top of "Harstadgaardsvegen" facing east. The island of "Store Tjyvholmen" in the background.

This picture shows two red circles with a red arrow pointing in the direction the pictures were taken.
