      Hello,
I visited a museum a couple of weeks ago and they had a scrapbook from a US Navy officer who went to Germany in June of 1945 as part of a technical team to look at German material (he was an explosives expert). In the scrapbook was an envelope with two letters in it, both written to Hauptmann Karl Friesenhahn, who was the engineer company commander at the Remagen bridge. I was able to read enough in the letters to see that they are from two different NCOs who had probably served with Friesenhahn before. The curator had asked a German lady in the past to translate the letters, but when she read them she said she didn't want to talk about them. I would like to see if someone would be willing to translate the letters for the museum. They are hand written and rather lengthy so it will be a lot of work.
      Thank you,
      Dale

"Blu." could be the abbreviation for a name.

                    Thanks guys!
I think you are right. The combination with the (SA) rank and the name points to Herbert Merker.

The Soldbuch is to a guy who was in Gaustabführer of Gau 9 (Reichsgau Hamburg).

i.a. means "im Auftrag" right? so he was not the actual commander?

I have a letter from Albert Kesselring written to his wife from prison in 1947. I speak German fluently, but I cannot read most of the handwriting. It’s six pages long. If someone would be able to provide a transcription or summary it would be greatly appreciated. If you can help, please PM me and I’ll send you the images.

I believe that the writing is by Walter Sigel's widow, telling how she learned of his death. I cannot make out many of the words though. Help please! Thanks in advance.
