the text is written in a very poor German language with a lot of mistakes. May be that the writer was not of German origin.

Thanks for looking at it. It could very well be in a Hungarian related language. My grandmother's family were Donauschwaben (Rudolfsgnad) and depending who you talked to they claimed they were either German or Hungarian.

Still looking for a translation if anyone can make it out.

    Thank you for your efforts.

Thanks Hank ! The tray came with 12 brass shot glasses. Each shot glass was engraved with a russian city that was captured. Plus a cookie/bread plate. Pretty cool I've had it for about 15 yrs. I'll try to get some pics.

          Thank You,

                            Hi,

I'm looking for a full translation of this text please, word for word if possible? I've tried google translate, but it's not giving me what I'm looking for.

                            Many thanks. Lynton.

From the plentiful supplies pulled out of the hatches of the thousand vehicles standing on the road the company is very well provisioned. At 10:00 o'clock two squads of the platoon under Lt. Thieme set out for Lentenburg on reconnaissance. Here, too, vehicles are standing in rows on the roads and paths. Just in front of our positions there is a recently deserted battery. Forty prisoners are taken. Suddenly there is rsistance near Lentenburg. The recon group pushes forward. Enemy tanks appear. Gefreiter Ahlers is severely wounded. (He dies on 31 May in a field hospital.)
