    Here the German text:

    "2.3.41

    Liebe Mutter,
Gestern kam Dein langer Brief vom 11.2. hier an.
    Dein Rolf"

I try to translate the text:

"Dear mother, yesterday your letter dated 11.2. did arrive here. A lot of news happened in Forbach. Your apprehension that I would not have any matter bto laugh about with the old warriors will not apply. Since our dislocation many things have changed. Naturally the annexation still is not completely successful. Your idea to give numbers to our pallets is very good. I will always give you the numbers, so you will have a general view.
I wish you all the best. Regards to the others, Yours Rolf"

              Henning:

I am not sure if this is the correct location Henning named on the back of the photo. But the place called "Henning" in not so far away from Traunstein. So they could have reached it by a march.

                      I have to correct: it must be " # 2046 " - not 2246 - sorry.

Apparantly I was wrong. I guess the man with the beard IS Günther Prien. Attached is another foto, also of Prien. I also scanned the writing on the back. I can make out "Prien" and (U) 47 - (his ship) Can you make out the name of the other man - the one behind Prien? Prien appears in the foreground?
