    Outstanding additions Bill.

Perhaps a unit tailor was adding collar piping and it was a trend that was catching on more and more!

One does look a little like NCO collar tress, perhaps some thicker than usual collar piping?

Also, few cuff-titles evident in this particular selection of pictures (from #1326). Perhaps cuff-titles were issued at the end of training (if they are recruits), or perhaps they were (at times) in short supply for this ever expanding unit.

      Paul,

First time I've seen such tress or piping on new recruits...possibly something designating them as class leaders in training? I believe they were new recruits at the Hermann Goering Kaserne, Reinickendorf Berlin.

White tabs and no cuff titles until they finished their training...same thing I've seen in photos of recruits in Utrecht, Netherlands.

The next four photos I believe were taken in Sicily or Italy. Tropical uniforms with many of the HG Panzermanner wearing totenkopf collar tabs

                              A very nice portrait, Bill!

                              Cheers, Peter

                                Wonderful additions Bill.

Ref the sequence of posts #1339 - 1343 you can see the effect of the Jan 1944 order to drop the white collar tabs (in forward zones), but back home on leave the collar tabs are re-applied?

We all like to see factory machine sewn insignia in our collections, but I can imagine a lot was sewn on by hand and back off again perhaps a number of times. I've heard this first hand from veterans.

Meanwhile "Der Spiess"'s white collar tabs (#1343 - note the book tucked into his wrap tunic) are going nowhere!

                                Regards, Paul
