this just arrived before Christmas
a really nice period photo postcard of one of hitlers ss barracks near the Eagles Nest. enjoy.

The "Platterhof" was a bed & breakfast until 1937, when it was bequeathed to Martin Bormann who had it upgraded to a Hotel. It survived the war unscathed and became a R&R installation of the US Army until 1996, in 1999 it was torn down, there is a huge parking lot at the former site.
Apparently it was never used as barracks, others may know more though.

The Hotel was called the General Walker Hotel one of three locations for the US Armed forces Recreation Centers. Sadly it was turned back over the German Government and they decided to make it a parking lot for tourists going up to the Eagles nest. Bill
