He seems to wear the same cap in the last two pics, just upgrated to "officer".

    Nice pics.

    Cheers

      Hello Fritz,

Thanks for joining in on this thread. I'm not actually talking about his cap when I refer to three different ranks and uniforms....look at his shoulder flaps....the first one shows he was a lower ranking soldier with #33. The second shows him as a Feldwebel and the third as a Leutnant. Bill

        Hello Bill,
don't get me wrong, I didn't say that in regard to your post. I just found it interesting that he didn't bought a new "officer's" cap once he became an officer. Again, nice pictures!

        Cheers

I understand Fritz' point. In my oppinion such groupings can have a lot more expressiveness than single portraits. You literally see them getting older...

Here's one group of the same man ("Günther") I have: he starts as a LW Flieger (Flak), then changes to HG (looks like he is still in a Flak unit), is awarded an EK and ends up as a HG Uffz.

There must be more groupings like that (and Bill's very nice example), so maybe we should start a thread on that topic?
