POW portraits

I posted three nice POW Portrait postcard size shots on my POW thread but received no comment so I'm not sure if anyone saw them...so I'm posting them here as well. #1

Nice photos. Photo 2786 appears to have a German cross with the swastika missing. Why do you say these are POW portraits? I did not see anything to indicate these guys are POW's.

Acht so!

Bill I see it now. All of their Hoheitsabzeichen are missing. That explains the German cross.

All of the Hakenkreuzes on the badges & medals have been removed and the cloth insignia have also been removed plus one thing you didn't see is the writing on the reverse with postwar dates of 1945/1946. There was another POW portrait photo with a RKT wearing TDB but the seller said he was keeping that one for his collection. I have been collecting POW photos for a long time and these are the first I've seen showing de'nazified decorations. Bill
