    Norwegian Frontfigther Badge

    Hi Guys !
I dont know it this is the right forum for this badge , but I try .
This Norwegian Frontfigther Badge was only awarded by Norwegian that voolentered in Wehrmacht and Waffen - SS . About 7000 was awarded . The only badge man can be "sure" that is warmade is marked " 830 s " + " W " ( Maker Webeto ) . Another ting to look for is detail of the Wikings head .

          Dear Lillegutt,

Great ensemble! Have you seen Detlev Niemann´s recent update? He has this badge with miniature and a lot of other very interesting Scandinavian SS badges there! One of them a honour cross with metal SS runes on the ribbon that I have never seen before. Does anybody of you know this award?

          Cheers, Frank H.

            Hi Frank !
Yes ! I scanned Detlevs pages on friday . I saw the cross with eagle on and ribbon with SS - runes . I have never seen any Norwegian NS ( Nazi Party ) like that . There is only one Norwegian NS Cross with ribbon ( 1939 - 1945 ) . That is NS Tapper og Tro ( brave and loyal ) . It is 3. classes of this cross + an "halsorden" like the knight cross of Iron Cross . 3. class with long ribbon and 1941 on . Second class like that one on pics . and 1. class with screwback .
But the Norwegian Frontfighter set was a really nice one .

            Lillegutt

PS ! I will post a thread about NS " Tapper og Tro " later with pics of " halsorden " . Today only one of this crosses are known i Norway . Will post this under crosses .
The Norwegian NS police ( 1939 - 1945 ) badge was also made with ribbon , but I think only 2- 3 of this with ribbon are known today .

              Cross

The cross with runes attached to the ribbon is the Finnsh Waffen-SS memebers memory cross. The small shield with a death´s head is the lapelbadge for the Finnish WSS members.

                Dear Ludwig,

Does "memory" imply that it is by any chance after 1945? According to Detlev´s description that is not the case.

                Cheers, Frank H.

                  Memory cross

As far as I know (= info from WSS-veterans) they were awarded these crosses right after the break up of the Finnish battallion summer 1943.
I have also had a cross that I know was produced after the war and it was much thicker and had not that very glossy black paint.

Such badges are mentioned in Littlejohn's Foreign Legions of the Third Reich volume 1 (or in volume 2's Addendum)
Sorry but I have not these books with me at the time of writing

                      "Detlevs medal"

                      Hi Guys !
Yupp ! I did not think that was an Norwegian Medal . If it had been Norwegian it would have been the NS Raven on medal and not an Eagle .

                        Dear Lillegutt,

How can you tell it is a raven? The birdies you show squawk "eagle" into my ear. They are not exactly German Third Reich, but related.

                        Cheers, Frank H.

                            NS Raven 1

                            Hi Guys !
Here are pics of an NS Raven from a headgear . The raven always carries the "sunwheel" ( Dont know the English word for that wheel ) . This one have been on an NS party cap .

                              Dear Lillegutt,

Can´t help it, still looks like an eagle to me. If the ravens on the fields here in Munich would have such a cool bent beak, I would catch some, stuff them out and silver spray paint ´em to go on top of my display cases!

                              Cheers, Frank H.
