My example has the following dimensions

width of the tank is 43 mm
height of the tank is 17.7 mm
Also it is magnetic, a non magnetic type is yet to be found (if any ).

If anyone has a picture of the rear of this tank please show it.

Why the silver colour on a type black backing? For this I have the following theorie: I presume there was a large stock of these lighter coloured tanks made for use on gold badges. But as more TDB's in black for a single destruction of a tank where needed than gold badges for 5 destructions, for economic reasons these over stock silver tanks where placed and meant as TDB's in black. Some say that this is the silver grade, this is a fairy tale as there simply was no silver grade for these.

As I am in the topic; I have never seen any gold tanks on any periode TDB's either. I think it is fair to say that all known periode TDB's have been shown in my thread and as I stated earlier, random backing material was used on all types and grades. Stick to these types I described to you and you can be confident of any TDB being authentic.
Find anything else other than I showed here, then be very suspicious and sceptical about it because it is probably a post war reproduction.

The fourth and last type I would like to show you are the so called "field made" TDB's.

          Regards,

          DJ

                        Hello Ciano,

IMO your TDB is not an original, sorry.

                          Hi Ciano,

Thanks for compliments, still I find it a pity you are messing up this thread . Many people know who 's badge this is, it still does not look like it is yours so why put 'Ciano collection' on it unless you own it?
The answer to your question is in the thread by the way.

I am not an expert of these badges, so that is why I posted this one, just to know your opinion....Anyway thank you for your help in to avoiding to be "burned"

                              Great work!

I seem to be drawing a blank on the two in this picture. Where do they fit?

                              Best regards,
