This was a very lucky find at a show today - sitting with all the normal blue wool eagles , and for the same price. A late-war, Rayon eagle as found on some makes of tan/water smocks.
This is the first one I have ever had not still attached to a piece of smock. It is good because it helps see the padded construction of this type of eagle.

Thanks John, yes, I have a couple of cut -offs, but could never find a loose one.

Just looked through this thread and seen two similar eagles sewn to splinter material smocks - so I take it back- not just sewn to t/w smocks !

Saw this one at Beltring. Thank you to the owner for letting me photograph it. On a rare splinter over GM third pattern smock

Unfortunately didn't get the smock with this kind of eagle yet

I think I can add some of my eagles, I don't have any cut off from smocks just only on them. Hope they fit well in this thread .

First one seems on identical backing like the eagle from another LW uniform , I put it close to compare.

Second is the early one .

Here is a new peice, courtesy of a WAF member.

Later eagle sewn to what is likely to be a splinter over Grünmeliert smock.
