    Super eagles Glenn

    Fred,
That is really interesting. Is there any evidence of camo on the cut-off material ?

    Regards,
    Steve

      Hi Fred,

At your leisure, please post a close up of the material from the front showing some of the zig-zag stitching and another from the rear where the tiny fold is.

      Thanks,
      John

Do you think it might be a FD jacket , John ?

                    Hi Steve,

Have you ever seen a FD jacket of this material? I have not.
                    Cheers,

Stamp. This smock is stitched together with several different colored threads, blue/purple, light green, dark green and tan. Only a few small holes at the left cuff. Best, Bill Bourque

...well I've seen tight-weave cotton FD jackets, as you have. Are you saying the weave on this is clearly different to those ?

                        Regards,
                        Steve

                          Hey Steve,

I've only seen gabardine and HBT field jackets in splinter. This eagle was cut from smooth duck, like that fine jump smock you acquired a few years ago with the green backed eagle we were discussing earlier.
                          Best,
                          John

                            John,
If you mean the smooth cotton material like Willi's smock on p18-19 of Kurtz, then yes I've seen several splinter FD jackets in this material.

                            Regards,
                            Steve

I never have Steve, not an authentic splinter example anyway. Regardless, the reverse implies that this bird is more likely from a jumpsmock.
