Sergey you're fantastic. I was today by my father (Kurt was his uncle) told and show him the new informations. He was so happy that we finally found some more. I want to thank you sincerely in his and my name for your great work.

I have another wish, can you send me the pictures (without markings) from posts #92,93,101 and 102. I send you my email adress (PM). The pictures are only for me and my dad.

You're right the guy on the one picture looks like Kurt - perhaps he is it really.

Do you have friends in Germany? Perhaps I can get the ID tag directly from them.

If you want (I know you read them) I can give you the war diaries, when I will get them.

I had find this explosive. It's a Geballte Ladung 3Kg Kugelform (weight 3,5kilo filling 3kilo Amatol).

Its a spherical 3 kilo charge was developed 1940 by WASAG - Rheinsdorf.
It had one fuze-well and carrying handle.

                Magnificent Strum.
Many thanks for posting and sharing the pictures.

Yes, that poor fellow, splattered with blood, and his eyes old before
his time. To fight and die in such terrible conditions, how many of those
you show would live?, unless wounded and evacuated.
And the russians to, with no known grave. Sobering for sure.

                Keep up the good work

                John.

Martin , this is not oxalic acid , but some other kinds od acids - more stronger because the rust is very solid and oxalic does't work here .
See some interesting find - camo buttons found with remains of badoliers /

                              Very interesting Thread!
Kind of creepy when you first see Kurts early picture and then the photo of his bones. Interesting to see the wartime photos of the soldiers on that hill.

I really appreciate your work sergey!
I heared lot's of Russians only go for the items and throw away the bones, what a shame!

                                more facts:

This explosives was mainly used by military engineers (Pioniere, Sturmpioniere). It was used for urban warfare (Häuserkampf) and against strongholds (Festungsanlagen). For example it was rolled or threw into tunnels.

Thank you for the great pictures and facts Sergey.
