Very cool Sturm.
If believe you...I is not easy to find it. Doesn't matter if you search in Russia,Germany or Holland. You have to know the spots where to dig and you need alot of patience.
What I do see, is that alot of the items are preserved much better than when it comes out of the Dutch soil

Yes , you right , sometimes our soil could bring surprises especially if it's clay but in the area of that hill i dug only the one bunker with clay but unfortunatly there were no intertesting items inside ...it's like a play in casino ..

Usually papers in bad condition especially if they lays with remains of soldiers, i have never found any wehrpass or Soldbuch but someone did for sure . the paper from russian ID tag could preserved well very often like this one /but it keeps in bakelite tubes .

My father called Wilhem Weier too, after he read a newspaper article of his visit on he battlefield.

That's the reason, why we search again for informations of my great uncle.

I wrote to german military archive in Freiburg, because they had the war diaries of the FJR3. I hope i became a copy of the diaries soon. I can post then.

When you give him my uncle's ID tag, I can meet Wilhelm too and he can give me the ID tag. I can't wait for this moment.My grandmother (Kurts sister) died ago a few years. I'm sorry that she missed this.
