I Kevin, I bought this helmet and unfortunately was a fake. A good fake. The seller has honoured his word and took it back, fortunately.

Hello everybody,
I'm new and not an experienced collector. Ever since I went to Normandy last summer and visited Fort Eben Emael 20miles from where I live I really became interested in the German Fallschirmjäger.
But I don't (yet) know what's real and fake, so thanks for helping out rookies like me!

What do you think about this helmet......is this the right stuff??

These times, their are a lot of items comming from bunkers out Eastern-Europe.
It seems all to be to good imo ss-dd helmets, camo-fj helmets, ...etc.
Are these finds legit? Or is this a new approach by our faking friens in the East?
I don't know!
You need to believe their story: it was me or my friend that diged it up out of a bunker in ...... Because usaly the items are in a state that makes determine of the are friend or foe is very difficult.
Some of it must be authenic, but I think the majority is faked. This is my personal opinion only.
But it just feels all to good to be true.
It feels the collectors market is asking for affordable top-helmets and they started to deliver them.
Just curious what this forumshelmet experts think of this one, I'am not a fj-helmet specialist. Let this also be clear

I just took an other look, the stitching of the liner seems to be disintegreited but the stitching of the chinstrap did survive?

I would ask for close-up pics of the liner and chinstrap stitching. Buckle (if present), and press stud.
