    ebay FJ helmet authentication

Anyone wishing to solicit opinions on the authenticity of any FJ helmet offered on ebay, or any other auction for that matter, please post the helmet (or link) on this thread.

    This will serve several purposes:

This thread is pinned so that it will remain in this position.

We would like to keep all ebay FJ helmet questions in one specific link.

It will group all ebay FJ helmets on one thread to make it easier to conduct research for future viewing.

It will provide an aid to help less experienced collectors identify fakes being offered as original.

Please continue to post known fakes on the FJ helmet "hall of shame" section in the Fallschirmjäger Fake Gallery listed further below on the main menu. That will continue to serve as a "catalog" of fake helmets, being offered as original, for future reference.

Questions concerning the availability of reproduction FJ helmets should be directed to the living history forum.

Questions concerning original FJ helmets, or those not found on auctions, should continue to be posted in the normal FJ area.

I would appreciate your assistance and support in keeping the FJ helmet authentication process structured in this manner.

    Thanks,

FJ helmet on E-bay.de...an Indian copy...

    Hello guys

    http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...mMakeTrack=true

This helmet is in E-Bay Germany right now. To me it very much looks like an aged Indian helmet. The liner leather does not have the seam around the head, the rim of the shell is rather thick and the liner band (alu) is not deep enough into the shell in the back. Also the leather across the head is zickzacked...
I have a new Indian helmet that looks just like that, apart from the decals...

    cheers
    Uwe

PS: Of course a private auction

I'm afraid the link doesn't work. Perhaps the seller has cancelled the auction. It would be interesting to see the helmet anyhow. Have you got any pictures of it?

            Madness...

...it's now at 311EUR and still 3 days to go. I bought mine for 80EUR directly from the German Deepeeka rep in Hamburg.

            cheers

              phony m37 fj?

The detail in the pix is non-existant,

But does this appear that someone has taken the next step in knock-offs?

              http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...gory=4722&rd=1

If not, & it is an original, I wonder what it is worth?

              Best, Matt

Would anyone (who knows what it is, and claims that its original) sell an army M37 (even the shell ) for $2500 (Buy It Now) ?

                Difficult to believe.

Regardless, IMHO, I don't think the shell is original.

                    FJ helmet value

I am not sure if this is the right place for this one or not, I am pretty sure about the autheticity of this piece, but I have to make an offer on it and I am not quite sure what value range would be appropiate. It was a DD helmet at one point, not exactly ground dug condition, but definately not showroom quality either, but even as is I thought it had a nice aesthetic quality to it.

So what say you FJ helmet guys? what is a somewhat rusty/pitted/ shell worth these days of "nosebleed" FJ prices...
                    ???

                    Thanks,
                    Jerry
