Hi Denis,

Indeed a very interesting one and thanks for showing him here on the forum.

And not the first one from that area who didn't know his own birthday.

      Best regards

A lot of people unfortunatly take the modern day meaning of many German words and not the one that it referred to in the 40's!

Good idea is to get a period English/German dictionary....and would you believe it, I can't find my normal dictionary!!!

Excellent Ian ! But I was by seing your Office Desk : looks really like mine, typical Collector "Ordnung" !!! Look ! You would feel at Home on my Desk !! L. PS : There is only a little difference: the strange light you see on the left is called "the Sun", something unknown in England

Ian. Do you know what is the little Stripe on the Shoulderboard ? At first Glance, I thought it could have been the thin red Stripe worn by the G.R.24 (21.I.D.) but your officer served by G.R.407.

PS : Concerning the Desks... I am always fighting against the mess, but on the other hand, when it seems empty, I feel lonely and depressed. So, I just fight to maintain it at an acceptable Level !!

Another Point Ian. Perhaps you have in yr WP the signature of Htpm/Major Hans Rübener, Co II./407 ?

                        Hi Lionel,

I do not know, however the photo must have been taken 1941 and he was with 5 Kp. and II/Inf.Rgt. 407.

Not aware that I have a signature of Hans Rübener. There is not one in this Wehrpaß.

I think this Soldbuch photo is interesting to add to this thread. A soldier who wears a sling.
