Although this Ausweis was issued to a Dutch civilian in 1944, i still want to share it here with the Holland collectors.
This German ausweis was issued to a health insurance employee so that he could enter a restricted area in the port city IJmuiden.

              Osterbeek

A recent pick up from a WAF gentleman, Josef Oberprieler fought with SS Pz Jg Ausb. Abt 2 in Osterbeek area of battle during Market-Garden.

He was transfered to SS Frundsberg Division but spent a short time with SS Pz Gr Rgt 26 of SS HJ Division, possibly part of various companies sent to fight along the West Wall during the re-building of various SS Divisions in western Germany.

He was then captured by the soviets at sometime along the Eastern Front, that had moved into Germany in 1945.

              Fate unknown.

                        Hello Bjorn

No problem. Here is one scan. He was born in Nijmegen and joined the SS "Westland" Regiment from 6 november 1940 till the end. He was one of the first Dutch early birds who joined the Westland Regiment in 1940. The first volunteers had the choice to sign or go home. He decided to sign and stayed till the end with an amputation as result

                        regards
