Very very nice Scott Must be pretty exciting to have a Market Garden related group and his DKiG document. I hope you will be able to find more info about how he got his DKiG one day.

    Regards

      Erwin,

It is not mine - still in the possesion of the family. Happy for me to use it in these circumstances.

      Thx

People can show their 1940 battles - occupation pictures/papers and 1944 and 1945 related documents - photo's ea in this thread.
Good idea, Floris. I will digg in my archive for some documents from the mobilisation period and an interesting research a good friend and I made and solved. Perhaps Dennis can show some of his Holland 1945 related soldbucher in this thread in the meantime. . We 'are all looking forward to see them

Here is a group which came directly from the vet and his family. Needless to say i'm very happy with this and honored they gave me the opportunity. I might open a thread about him in the future. The numbered P559 shoulder board doesn't original belong to the group. The rest is. All medals are his original war time worn examples, just as the other shoulder board is.

          regards

          Erwin

Wow! Looks like a nice late-war replacement s.Pz.Jäg.Abt.559 Soldbuch Erwin! And is that an Ehrenblattspange I see??? Looking forward to seeing more of this amazing grouping posted here

Thanks. Here a better view from the medals and his shoulder board. The ehrenblattsspange is his original worn example and mentioned in his soldbuch also.

Here a nice photo to keep the thread going. Not a document but although nice to add, a picture from the grave of Gen. Major Friedrich Kussin. He is is buried in Ysselstein Grave BL-6-143. He was responsible for the defence of Arnhem but died on 17 september 1944. The camouflaged Citroen car he and 3 of his staff were in, ran into lead elements of British Airborne troops on the junction near Wolfhezer Weg / Utrechtse Weg

There are a lot of interesting pictures with articles written about him and his death

The Germans who felt in Holland in 1945 are buried in Ysselstein. Here is a sober picture from the graves from men who all have fallen in 1945.

I'd like to show you this German death notice to a Obergefreiter from the Kriegsmarine.

He died at age 41, in April 1945 during the Battle of Groningen, (which took place from 13 - 17 April 1945) as one of the (approx. ) 130 German victims.

He was buried at the cemetery Esserveld in Groningen, together with 25 of his comrades.

From the total of (approx.) 130 German victims a total of 82 were buried in unmarked graves. Their names are still unknown.

In the 50s his grave was moved to the German cemetery in Ysselsteyn, where he still rests.

At the moment I'm still investigating the military service, so that's why I removed his name.

The other pictures shows a burial of a German Kriegsmarine Leutnant, October 1944, at the Esserveld cemetery in Groningen.

Perhaps you can start posting some things from your collection as well Dennis instead and make a nice contribution instead of asking other people continues to share their collection. I find that always quite remarkable
