    Klein & Quenzer RK

You have to wonder how this carnage happened........... found without the loop or the ribbon that were added later.

Looks like a bullet did the damage.

If you look at the damage, what ever the projectile nicks the 3 o'clock arm bead on the obverse about mid way. On the reverse it catches the bead again higher up on the 6 o'clock arm. Almost like traveling higher right to lower left and appears almost in a more parallel angle.

Any story with this how, when, who, where did it come from?

All that I had ever heard that it was picked up on a battle field somewhere in Russia or the Eastern front, and was found sans of the ribbon and loop. But no, nothing definite on it's history.

I'll have the RK at the SOS next month for anyone that would like to see it. Not sure if Dietrich would want or allow it at his table, but perhaps at another.

                            That is one sweet KC,

The story it tells while simply laying there is amazing!

                            Cheers bud,

I never noticed this until today when I magnified the photos up, but if you look at this 9 o'clock reverse arm, it does show what looks like blood trace evidence that has run along the rim and up next to the bead. It's also found on the shard of the bead that is curled up as well. Some of the same found in a couple small areas on the obverse too, but definitely shows up in these 2 photos the best.
