I think that I have seen this RK before here on t8his forum.
It that is the same cross, then I think that it was dertemined by someone with experince in weapons and firing at metal, that this kind of damage could not have been from a rifle.

PS This is just what I think that I can remember...and I can't find the thread at the moment.
Personally I love this example, as it really does tell a story! I bet someone knowledgeable in ballistics could easily determine what the root cause of damage was. Bottom line, this dude was really nailed!

If you put that under a scope and it was a bullet you are most likely going to find visible trace elements of copper from the bullet jacket and I have little doubt it would still be there. That should tell you if either a bullet or frag. Certainly looks like a bullet.
Indeed, my RK and my photos that someone posted some time ago. The 1st one in this topic is a fake that was pictured and shown in Stephens Iron Time book. But this Q&K is mine and it's the 1st time that I've actually photographed it properly and started a topic on it.
I never noticed this until today when I magnified the photos up, but if you look at this 9 o'clock reverse arm, it does show what looks like blood trace evidence that has run along the rim and up next to the bead. It's also found on the shard of the bead that is curled up as well. Some of the same found in a couple small areas on the obverse too, but definitely shows up in these 2 photos the best.
