Anyone seen an RK with a rough core like this? I cannot tell if it is corrosion, originally rough surface or a repaint. It does not appear as a repaint over corrosion, as the core is slightly loose and the appearance of the core is uniform, even under the beading. There is no paint on the beading. Any thoughts?

That is what I am hoping. The seller said he had put some oil on it to keep corrosion in check. Here are some other pics. If it is just corrosion and not a repaint, I guess I would be happier, as it is just in bad shape.Attached Files

With the high prices today on Knight Crosses, most collectors would be more than happy to have this cross, if it was for a fair price.

It is not attributed. I am simply concerned that the core may have been repainted over corrosion. If that is the case, it is no longer an original cross, but a tampered cross. I will wait and here the opinions of others as well, but it seems as though this is getting a so far.
