            Dipped 3 and fat swas

            Hi Ben,

Thanks for the additional photos. I can see the Dipped 3 now. It's more subtle than others I have seen. Swas looks good also.

            Best regards,
            Stu

              Ben,

I've posted the same photos I posted here over on the GMIC. I personally know very little of the timeline of the Souval crosses, but to me if two crosses have been found in vet's families, I think I would lean toward the crosses being wartime pieces.

I faced this same issue with properly ID'ing the Paulmann & Crone EKII's. There were so many examples being offered up which made the discussion so confusing, especially since P&C never marked the rings on their crosses. I personally located a packeted P&C cross set from a German vet (a grouping), and I bought another set from a forum member who found one in the same manner - directly from the vet. They were a perfect match. I say again, what more do we need? Does not this give credit to these crosses, coming from the vet's relatives?

Still, I am here to learn.

              Robert

                Thank you Robert,

I was going to post them there, but you already did.

Gut -feeling with this cross is good, and usually that is a good sign.

I have compared this souval to others on the forum (non-magnetic SB included) and nothuing really strikes me as odd.
The all have the same low swas as well.

IMO a nice period made ek ....

                Best regards,
                Ben

Do we discount all of the unmarked examples as well if the features match the L/58's?

That is what I am wondering as well...

I guess it rules out the entire series of Souval-ek's as being possibly period....

Could it be, that some collectors have typical Souval crosses with other maker marks? Please, shows us the pictures of the needles.
But please, only this specific needle, not the other differently formed needles which you find in this thread, Post 19 (picture17):

                            Uwe,

Although unmarked, I believe I have the same needle on my Souval as Ben...

                              Yep, same set-up Robert.
                              Evenm the catch is identical.

Uwe, I still don't know what you are heading at (?) ....

                              Regards,

The cross is original in my opinion. There could be many reasons why the marking appear as it does. The L/58 marking is perfectly ok when considering the "Austrian" parts in the cross.
