Interesting indeed. As you have taught me much of what I know about EK I hesitate to ask but I too wonder why there isn't a Dipped 3 and fat swas present. If it's another maker core then why would it have the Souval mm? I thought Souval was the supplier to others not the recipient.
Kind regards,
Stu

@ Darrell, you are right, the hardware is correct.
@ Stu: this core has got a dipping 3, but it is less obvious then usual.
I presume they used at least 2 dies, because usually the 3 looks very stretched.
These numbers are fatter.
The swas is fat compared to other ek's, and is on a pedestal.
I don't think they bought these cores from other makers.
I ill try to get better pics of these areas tomorrow.
@ Robert: provenance is really very important, especially when it comes to crosses like this one....
It has got a worn look, but still is in graet condition.
I really like this one better then most Souval's I have seen before.
And yes, the other one is in the collection of my "main supplier" , who taught me much about ek's and from who I got the majority of my "oddities"
All directly from vets or relatives.
This definitely is a keeper!

Ben

Ben ,
Here's another 'L/58' I pulled from my files. It's been in my computer for years, and don't remember who it belongs to. Perhaps they'll chime in and scold me for using it, but I just had to post it for you. It's also a brass cored Souval...A little light on the 'L' stamp, but heavy on the '/58'...

You are correct, it's unlike any LDO case I have seen so far.
It's not printed on, but impressed in the liner of the lid.
I will try to make some detail pics tomorrow.

Hi,
you can find my first statement (picture) on the GMIC:

If I see it right, all the three L/58 pieces in this thread have this extreme flat swastika?
For me personally this is already sufficient! No good finger feeling.
But this must not be the end of the discussion.

Hello Uwe,
Deschler made a series of ek's as well with a very low swas.
That doesn't automatically make them post-war.
I will look through the rest of my crosses to see what other makers have this feature.
I don't have any other Souval cross to compare, but there are more out there.
All of you who have an ATTRIBUTED Souval with low swas, please post the pics in this thread for comparrisson, so we can keep the discussion alive
Best regards,
Ben
