Now if this was their top of the line for publi consumption would the finidh their out the back door contraband to better standards. If someone will send me their Email address I will send allof my 800/4 pictures so they can resize and post for everyon to look at. The difference between 800/4s and 935/4s is readily apparent..........Jimmy

Well finished, in my view. One thing about even the very early 57'ers is often the lack of finishing in the 'eye'....

In Jimmy's cross, notice the 'rounding' of the inner beading corners to accomodate the swaz...

Certainly an astonishing finish! Very close - if not even equal - to the 935-4 or a 935 for that matter. The other examples of the 800-4 if had so far do certainly not exhibit such a finish. However, traces could be observed.

I would not consider ring finish an indication of 'wartime' or 'pos-war' quality since there are example of unfinished rings with pre-45 pieces and finished rings with post-war pieces.

Here's some pics of my early 57 with the Die Flaws

Judging by the extend of the die flaws on the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock arm I would put this in the later 57 period, not early.

There are 57's out there with the dent row only.

Thanks for the info D. Actually I was saying "early" as in the 1957 "brand". Earlier than the say "70"s or 80's '57's

From those photos I'd say the 800 4 looks very very nice.

My view is that the dent row is in fact flaws to the male die. It has every characteristic of so being.

Now what does that tell us then......?
