Anyone here uses a USB scope? I used my scope that I use to determine some of the qualities of original and fake SS decals. Here are some shots I took at 200X the magnification. Good enough to get an idea what we are suppose to be looking for. Of course, we need shots of an original to compare. These are just some shots I took to show the clarity. Not bad for a $50 scope.

Top pic, post #64, are those fine scratches on the outer frame? An indication that this cross has been cleaned at some point in it's life?

Yes, I use a USB scope, essential for the finer details!!
I don't think theres been any cleaning on the frame, many RK's & EK's have these type of lines along the frame!

These are score marks made by the finisher, they burnish the edge with a fine edge tool which causes these marks.

I've been studying the 1957 Deumer RK I received from Rudy and just discovered that it is actually posted in Dietrichs Maerz book "the Knights cross of the iron cross" page 397.
