Surely others would pull him up on it if he wasn't entitled to the awards. I live in hope.

For Americans unfamiliar with the term "walt" -- it comes from Walter Mitty who is described as "...a meek, mild man with a vivid fantasy life...."

We call them "posers" or "poseurs;" and unfortunately, we have quite a few as well, usually claiming to be navy SEALs, Special Forces, combat vets. Some even have a good military record with honorable awards ... but then they pretend to have Purple Hearts, Bronze Star Medals, Combat Infantryman Badge, etc., that they have not earned. (cf: This Ain't Hell)

There will always be "posers" in the history of military warfare.

        Like Philipp Stachel...

I think it against the law in AU but I'd have to check. Its an insult to those who really achieved the awards. Far better to proudly wear your faithful service medal than pretend to be Goring. Can't believe they've remade the secret life of Walter Mitty. Loved that film.

Hi Sepp ! I have never seen a photo of this RKT before. I wrote in my notes that I had met him, but I have no memory of this at all.....Old age I guess Tom

Tom I was wondering about that. Thanks for clarifying.

Oh ... I thought that was a regular suspension loop, but hanging from the bottom of the "V" shaped cravatt. The cravatt is like this one, but this one is pinned in the middle of the cravatt:

I've seen photos of a few of these tailored cravatts -- sewn at a 45º angle -- I think the older style is much more elegant.

It's not a cravatt but the ribbon sewn up that way with a place for the RK to hang from in the centre.

If you go through this thread you will see many examples of the Long suspension loop in wear. Not looking at the ribbon or how it is configured. These long loops have been around for quite a long time.
