        I just read the Wikipedia article about him; it states he was the last living recipient of the war-time Pour le Merite. The other neck Order is not the civil version of the PlM, but the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art:

            Hi Sepp ! This is the only photo I have ever seen of the Aircraft Destruction Ribbon being worn. He is credited with 2 planes destroyed. Since this award was made only on paper as far that is known only proto-types were actually produced, it is a Super rare photo even though post war service ribbon bar. I looked, asked questions of Many German vets and hunted for evidence of this badge with very little luck for the last 40 plus years. Great pic !!!! Tom

              Sepp, that image of Junger shows his PLM to be the post war (WW2) version made by St u L............he is one of several known PLM holders to give credence to the St u L made award, that some regard scornfully as a copy !
