Well then what are they ? What did Hartmann show you on a visit ? Is it possible he purchased a post war made set of diamonds ? Although I don't know if any were made by S&L or others. If they are not an A or B type I would like to know what you think.

I never said that Hartmann showed me anything. I never met him. I saw the whole Hatmann group at the gentleman who owns it now and got it directly from Hartmann.
I don't know who took that picture and in this case it is far easier to see what they are not. And they are neither Hartmann's original A nor B Type, that much is sure. I also doubt that he would have worn the B-type since that was damaged nor the A-type which he never wore because they are far to expensive. He could have bought several post war copies.
The picture could also be wrongly titled - would not be the first time.

This well may be the case. I don't remember the exact page where I found the picture, but I recall saying it belonged to Hartmann. Of course, it could be wrong.

Both appreciations made by Dietrich and Tom are very important!

From Der Jagdflieger Erich Hartmann (Motorbuch Verlag Stuttgart - 1978). The caption just reads "Erinnerungen beim Anblick der hohen Kriegsauszeichung."

Thanks for posting these. It IS the same set as in the photo posted earlier ! The ribbon proves that. Strange post war ribbon..... And it IS the set Hartmann showed to me during my visit at his home in 1981. I don't know anything about the gentlemen that "claims" to have gotten all of Hartmanns awards, but I do know I'm correct about what I saw ! When the recipient holds it in his hand and shows it to you, it beats all "Claims". My Final word on this subject !!!!! Tom

                Tom,

Do you really think that I just makeup what I was writing? This might very well his 1957 wear for the Bundeswehr set, but it is not his 3rd Reich Diamonds. That is all I am saying and if you don't believe me then that is just that!

Maybe... just MAYBE, Hartmann showed his '57 RK set to Tom, but Dietrich saw his wartime grouping (sold to this collector).
