Hello Damien

As promised I have photographed the ''Darphane'' make TWMs. They usually come in horizontal pins but I have seen vertical pins on some of them as well. On WWI period photos you can see Germans with sideways TWMs on their uniforms. I think the loops on their uniforms were made for vertical pinned medals such as Iron Crosses and so on so they attached the TWMs sideways because of the loops. Again this is only my theory.

As far as I can tell from the photos it is a beautiful period piece and I love it.

What is interesting on those WWI period Turkish made stars is that the craftsmanship, the materials, parts and the painting technique is so simple that it is not easy to reproduce them in modern days!!

Thanks again Tan, it was a pickup from a flea market here, I took a chance and paid about 10E, I love the look of it and the age it displays, I may now invest in one of the BB&Co examples next.
