            Hello Alex,

Beogam/Leopard is a specific pattern of camouflage.

The great problem posed for collectors is that every item of commercially made "duckhunter" on "ebay" has had this term applied to it in an attempt to link it with early Advisor units.

Here is another image of the Beogam/leopard pattern. Note that on this lightly faded and worn set the purple/pink and blue parts of the pattern are quite evident still ( the bottom of the sleeves shows the blue part of the pattern well). The pattern too has subtle differences to the commercial "duckhunter" patterns.

This colouration is not found on the standard commercial examples, and they should not be referred to as Leopard.

            Patrick.

Contrast the above with the typical (dare i say classic) "duckhunter".

Note the difference in pattern design to the Leopard set.

The pattern in a commercially produced US cap.

                again, note the design difference.

                  A commercially produced duckhunter shirt.

It does not resemble the period patterns i am familiar with though...

                    Ah...jumpwings!

The badge next to the Cambodian wings are indeed French.

The two at the bottom of the picture are South Vietnamese, senior and master jump wings.
I can't really help with the authenticity of them i'm afraid, as i have yet to purchase any South Vietnamese metal insignia. Another part of my education to come!

The Laotian wings look as if they have a chance...the crude construction does appear to match a few locally made Laotian Paratrooper beret badges i have seen and felt comfortable with.

Here is a French made period example for you.

                    Patrick.

well to bad then, i just thought it might be Vnwar era type shirt, it s a small size so maybe for an asian, but if you say it s not something you have seen.
Then i might wear it myself (if i fit in)

Patrick what do you think of my para badges?? is the one French??

                      Cheers

The laotian and khmer badges are great, i understand why you like them, i had this badge for a short time and was not sure where it came from, but thanks to your post here i figured that out, it s going to be a new passion collecting asian military items.

i really start loving that stuff, i reall think that there sould be a Indochinese forum on Waf.

                          Cheers

I enjoyed talking about the items, thanks for the initial post which made it all possible!

I am always here (to try) to help, and to learn about these items too.

HI Alex and Patrick, you'd probably given up on me, but finally got some of the slides back, it cost a $1 each to convert to jpg image. Ouch,

at any rate I've got 211 slides of 1964-65 vietnam, they seem to be about 1.2 megs each. These were converted from half frame slides and turned out quite well. At any rate, if you 'd like them, I'd only ask if you could send $20 by paypal to cover some of the conversion costs as well as postage etc. You can email me at zvezdah1@knology.net

BTW> A few pictures in there of kia VC, my dad explained years ago, they took the pics for id purposes , let me know if you'd rather I leave them off, only a half dozen or so.

this seems the right thread to post a couple of things I have.

I got this khmer cap a long time ago from a french guy living there. It should be period.

size is VERY small and it's worn.

I found this patch in a small shop in a rural area of Thailand where part of my family lives. The shop was specialized in tailoring uniforms and insignias for the thai armed forces. I'm not sure if it was made for US forces or what. I got it for free together with the only other US patch they had there, maybe leftovers.
