    Jens,

I bought my Bavarian medal bar for Eur 261.- (w/o S&H). I know... it's a lot.. but on the Nimmergut's OEK catalogue 2001-2002 the BMVK 3. Kl. mit Kr. u. X zinc type is listed for EUR 230.-. We all know that prices on OEK catalogue are quite below today's market price average.

In addition I am posting a BMVK 1. Kl. mit Kr. u. X... It is another one!

    Ciao,

    Claudio

      BMVK 3. Kl. im Etui

Ah! Forgot to post this one which I bought from a forum's member who bought it from Stogieman... as you can see is a scarce BMVK 3. Klasse (without crown and swords), naturally cased!

      Ciao,

      Claudio

        BMVK 3. Kl. in zinc

        Dear imperialites,

I noticed that my BMVK 3rd class with crown and swords it is made by different materials:

        - cross: zinc
        - swords: definately iron (magnetic)
        - crown und ring: ? I don't know... could be some kind of alloy? It is definately not zinc, because although the colour seems equal to the cross, you can see that in some parts the "zincish" grey color is wearing off and is coming through another metal on the surface, like more "goldbronze" or "messing" toned.

        What do you think?

        ciao,

        Claudio

Maybe they had some of the bronze rings and crowns on stock and used them for the zinky crosses. I have one of these without crown and with iron swords too. I wonder why they made the swords from Iron... Maybe zink is not durable enough.

Has this cross a makers mark?

No, Jens, it's not marked. I think, like also my brother, that such details like crowns and swords would have come out really bad in zinc (lack of detail).

            Ciao,

            Claudio

                Note combat HKs

Note that both are combat HksX...the 1st class with a surprisingly fresh red felt backing is from Floyd, Johnson and Payne et al...auctioneers.

                    My 3rd Class MVK

                    Hi everybody!
                    I loved the pictures!
I bought my first Bavarian MVK 3rd Class from Finn-Medals a couple of days ago. I was pleased with it.
Here is a link to a picture of the cross.
                    MVK 3rd Class with case.

I sure do hope Jani doesn't mind me posting the link.
Anyway this was actually my first cased medal aswell.
So what do you think about it? I love it!

                    Antti

                      Lt. General Gunther von Etzel's

Without doubt one of the prettiest of all medals.

I should put this one also in this thread. Be nice to have one of each of the various examples listed...

And a signed picture of the big Bavarian himself! Notice the breast star HE'S wearing. Ruppricht.
