Interesting. Can we see the backside too?

There was a smaller badge in an auction today, I think some collectors have noticed it. Thoughts?

PS: Pictures are from the auction, sorry I have no other.

Did you get it? I missed out on it at the end.

Yes, I bought it. It was such a nice looking badge and I have decided to give it a chance.

I have never had such a small MG badge. Can you tell me more about it? Do you have a picture of such badge in wear?

All I have right now is a theory that I am not yet ready to present.

                      The Machinegunner Sharpshooters Badge

                      Of course, noticed and checked.
Some differences to my mini but details on the front look quite the same from the pics.
The most obvious is the lack of "DRGM" on the back plate.
The holes in the plate or close to the edges.
Difficult to judge this rare and hardly researchable type.

As for the use of these, my current guess is uniforms for kids.
Small sabres and other stuff existed.
Photo evidence is still lacking as far as I lnow.

I dont think it is for kids uniforms. It is my mini. I got it with a chronicle

Any of our German members care to do some research into a patent from 1916-1921ish?

I was told the mini was a cap badge but never seen a photo mine came from a collection of cap insig. the veteran was reportedly at the Versailles Treaty signing all the countries badges were on an old cushion framed wall hanger. I kept the mini and gave the framed display to Great War Militaria.
