This one is an 1870 EK2 Halbgroße:
Interesting that J. Godet and Genbrüder Godet made the same kind of simple buttons.
Making a separate thread about those buttons because of the weird connection to AM & Cie - Paris.

Buttonbacks
I've been mulling this over in my head (among other things) for months. I've considered dozens and dozens of minis and sorted them by awards, institution date, groupings, etc. These are my preliminary findings. I think they are correct, but I'd like to hear from anyone who has something that directly contradicts this timeline (for example, a 1939 EK on button J2, or similar).
The dates below are very approximate. If anyone can narrow them down further, I'd like to hear that too.
Finally, I may have used your photo/item for the graphic. If you don't want me to use it, drop me a note and let me know. I will replace it with another.Last edited by Don Doering; 07-30-2011, 05:29 PM.Best regards,

Thanks for the good info Carl
I'm very confident that the order of the buttonbacks I've shown here is correct -- that is the easiest part. The dates, on the other hand, are harder. I think J2 could have been used for a while after the war, but surely they would have phased it out after it became clear the king wasn't coming back. The next complication is the switch from J3 to J4 -- who knows when it happened? Obviously after 1934 (thanks for that ). I figured 1930's because, when Gebr. Godet was founded in c. 1930, I thought J. Godet would have abandoned the simple "Godet" logo for a more specific one. So I guessed 1930.
I'm going to let this sit up here for a while more while we collect any more evidence. When that's all in, I will do a modified chart.
So what else you guys got?Best regards,
Streptile
