Thank you Christophe! Let me know as soon you know when you will be in Germany. So I don't plan anything else at that time.

Now, here is the offer of another guided tour, covering ca 100 years. A friend of mine offered to take us around the Regierungviertel and talk about and show us, where possible, the relevant bunkers and other protective buildings. This will cover the time from before WW I through to modern days.
My friend used to work in the Ministry of the Construction (building) Industry and was involved in military projects, or what was classed as such. he has a degree in civil engineering and I'm sure capable of providing a very informative tour. To my knowledge this is not otherwise available.

So, please let me know over the next few days who may be interested, just to get a general idea. I have to set a cut-off date of April, 20th to give him some time to prepare a few things. Also, I have to prepare myself as construction industry and architecture (language) is not something I'm fluent in.

          Thanks.

              Thanks Dag.

I'm afraid this won't be possible for me...

              Cheers.

Now, I hope the following does not sound too scary: This tour will take around six hours, maybe more. However, I think it will be a unique opportunity to get such knowledge. Furtehrmore, as this is in the area around the Regierungsviertel, plenty of opportunities for a break (don't want to write pint in case I upset someone) are around.

As for the BBQ: not sure, that has to come from some of the local guys, I assume?

Hehehe, I'm now a local guy. I would really like to have the Regierungsviertel tour! It looks very fascinating!

Hi Dag, I guess that this would be instead of the Bunker/Prenden tour or is it meant to be on another day?? Why have the 20th April as the cut off date? Is it someone's birthday then??... Cheers, Torsten.

                          Ralph,

I think you need to contact Nico (USCOB) about the barbecue. I think he was going to host it at what formerly was McNair Barracks. There also is a museum there. I believe he was going to schedule it for Sunday afternoon.

                          Cheers,

No, Torsten, this a second tour for another day. To be honest, I'm thinking of making both tours mandatory, in true DDR-style. Just to add realism, of course.

When I told my friend about the cut off date, he made nearly the same comment. I don't know why i picked this date, certainly not because of the birthday of a specific person.

                            @Michael,

I don't know where the former barracks are but maybe that could be part or a nice "finishing off" of the tour for all of us. And those who don't want to do the tour, can meet up with the rest there.

Dag - So I understand this. We will do the 5001 bunker tour on Saturday with a Saturday evening get together with the forum gang? Then do the other tour Sunday and finish our time together with a barbacue early Sunday afternoon?

I want to make sure there is no confusion when all of meet during the weekend, because some other members had been talking about some other activities around Berlin.

As for me...put my name down for the 5001 bunker tour and the other tour as long as we can get back for the barbacue with Nico and friends at the former barracks.

MikeG - Thanks for the information...

in that case, I do not know as yet, what I will do...the wife and I would certainly be interested in joining the Regierungsviertel tour, but since the wife already leaves on Sunday again (to get back to her three babies), I was hoping that we would make the Regierungsviertel tour on Saturday and the Bunker tour on Sunday and then I would have wanted to use Sunday to go to a couple of flea markets in Berlin...anyhow, lets see what happens and what the wheather is like once I get to Berlin...I presume and hope it will be possible to still join either or both tours on short notice???

I will most certainly join in with the evening festivities..... Cheers, Torsten.
