    No.

First we need to confirm a date.

        Rob,

If you think you may have at some time, access to a phone, and wish to contact me that way, PM me before you deploy and I'll give you my number. No problem.

I'm not sure we are going to be able to work this thing out. I suspect there may be some people that cannot be accommodated, myself included in that equation. My first priority is to my wife, and the primary reason for the trip to Berlin in my case is so my wife can visit with her mother, brother and friends.

I may in the end just pick a time frame that is good for me. Weather certainly will be a factor, as I don't like standing out in the cold, the rain, or snow. I had to do that for 22 years in the military. Now I can pick and choose.

On the other hand, during times of foul or inclimate weather, sitting down inside an establishment with good German food and good German beer with your Comrades and Colleagues ain't bad either.

We will just have to see what we can work out.

          Folks,
I see that in such a way:

Of course they´re right, they say in April mostly is bad weather in Germany. But you know also: the weather is the only one what we cannot plan. This could be also rotten in May or June....
For me is a weekend in May or June also okay. I think you, they have to cross an ocean or a big sea (like Dag or Torsten), should agree. We here in Germany can get a car and went to Berlin, if there´s no other way. Of course it would be great knowing the date as early as possible (for booking a low price flight and of course the sleeping places). But I think: you, they have to go the longest ways, should decide.

I primarily want to insure as many people (members) as possible that want to participate and meet, are given the opportunity. I can flex my schedule somewhat, and am willing to do so.

But I am in agreement with Torsten. We need to as quickly as possible, confirm a date.

I'm going to throw out some dates and perhaps we can mutually agree to one of these:

            a). APRIL - 14, 15 & 16.

            b). APRIL - 21, 22 & 23.

            c). MAY - 19, 20 & 21.

            d). MAY - 26, 27 & 28.

Can we as a group mutually decide on one of the above weekends?

I like May 26 thru 28th weekend because it gives me an extra holiday (May 29th).

            Thanks,
            Michael D. GALLAGHER

May should be pretty cool though, but here is waht I have found to do in April. Actually I don't really care when you want to meet, but I think I will arrive in Berlin in the middle of April. If it is in the first 2 weeks of April, it might be difficult for me to be there. After that anytime is all right for me as I will have a room out there.

              -------------------

Sorry to hijack your last post Michael, but I have found a very interesting tour that is availible every Sunday and it ends the last Sunday of April. This is a DDR architectural tour!

The tour is called : "BERLIN - Hauptstadt der DDR und der Ostmoderne" - Auf der Suche nach dem alten Osten

It is made by the Kultur B******252;ro Berlin. It looks pretty good to do such a tour on Sunday while almost everything is closed.

In my circumstances, May would be better, as it would allow me enough time to book cheap flights over, but at the end of the day its what the majority of you guys want, I can always go to Berlin myself if you guys plan a date I cannot make and have a wander around. My German is farily basic but I'd manage lol!

Option C) I cannot do, but I should be ok for all other options...although, for option d), it would be difficult to explain to my brother why I am not visiting him for his 35th birthday, when I am in Berlin anyway... Cheers, Torsten.

                    Okay,

so far we have heard from Bryan, myself and Torsten.

Bryan is okay for the two May weekends.
Torsten is okay for the two April and last May weekend (We'll get him to his brother's birthday party - that's a promise).
I'm okay for any one of the four weekends posted.

We are getting closer to firming up a date.

We however still need to hear from the others.

I would agree with Mike´s weekend from the 26th to 28th May.
We also have a extra holiday in Germany, this is Thursday, 25th May. This is the "Father's Day" or "Christ Ascension Day"(I don´t know the right translation, sorry).

To size it down, May is ideal for me. Allows enough time to book a flight on my return from Kenya.

                            Okay,

So far, provided we can load Torsten up and deliver him to his brother on his brother's birthday so they can celebrate (Germans take birthdays very seriously), then it is beginning to look like we can do this on the last weekend of May.

There still are others out there that were wanting to participate that have not yet responded.

don't worry about the birthday thing...I was not planning to go in any case...but, I will have to make sure my brother does not find out that I am actually in Berlin on the day.. ...so, last May weekend it is then? Cheers, Torsten.

                                Hey,

I actually think we got this thing nailed down.

This is great. It means we over here in the U.S. can actually start surfing the "Net" for cheap airfare deals.

I can already taste the Currywurst and Berliner Kindl.

                                Prost !!!
