      stonemint,

That is correct. The large Berlin emblem on the top of the cap was introduced in 1969 and worn as in your pictured cap until 1975. From 75 unitl 77 the badges were reversed in their positions. I am not sure when the the Bundescockarde replaced the Berlinplozei star on the cap band. There is also a small version of the large cap badge at the top of your cap. I assume it was worn on the M43 style cap but I have no proof at the moment.

      Regards,

      Gordon

The capbadges as worn from 1969 to 75 and from 75 until 77. Sometime in 1977 they went back to the badge placement as adopted in 1969. At some unknown time after this the polizei star was replaced by the Bundeskokarde. I do not know if the oak wreath was worn with the kokarde when it was first adopted or just the kokarde as shown in the later photo. The Berliner Schutzpolizei adopted the kokarde and wreath on 1. 5. 63.

The capbadges as worn at a later date. Not sure exactly when this confirguartion came into being. Perhaps more research will help here. This cap may also be found in blue. I have no time of introducion for this cap in this colour although it looks like the new blue cap issued with the blue uniform to replace the green tunic/biege pant uniform.

Niedersachsen Beamte (I assume this is the equivalent of the Verwaltungspolizei of the Third Reich):

                  stonemint,

Nice hat. The cap badge matches the date of 1966. Early cap badge with the bottom cut off so the leather chin strap would lay flat were also used by higher ranking police officials with the silve cap cords. At a later date a complete police star was adopted and worn higher on the cap band which looked much better wehn the silver cap cords were worn.

                  Regards,

                  Gordon

(Clewa was only used postwar by Clemens Wagner):

so the opened up that B,from the bottom.
I wonder because it is not that clearly visible.

Here is another postwar Pekuro BRD hat (this one for Feuerwehr) that clearly spells out "Reichspatent":

The Insignia came into Service with the 1975 Changes.
The Grey Cap looks like a Wachpolizei and the Blue one looks like a BVG Public Transport with Police Insignia.
