Some posters advertising a picture which show a yellow pipped hat. Unfortunately, we can not depend on movies for accuracy.

Thanks, Gordon--my gut tells me BRD on the visor I posted, but it would have to be early--I just cannot figure out the yellow--I will throw it on the "unsolved mysteries" pile!

        Sprogcollector,

I agree that it is an early BRD hat. The ligh blue colour would make me lean more towards Deutschebahn than DBP. They used velvet hat bands and piping on the crown and bove and below the cap band. I have some pipped in red and one pipped in gold. All early caps. Have a look at the grey "mystery" cap I just posted and compare the chin straps.

        Regards,

        Gordon

What does ZB stand for? Cheers, Torsten.

ZB means Ziviler Beamtenschutz, a kind of Civil Defense.

Ziviler Beamtenschutz? I have never heard.

                Do you mean Ziviler Bevölkerungsschutz

I think Nico did a little typo...

ZB means "Ziviler Bevölkerungsschutz" - "civil population protection" and it is for sure a civil defence organisation. "Beamtenschutz" would mean "protection for civil servants"

right, so ZB is basically the same as the DDR ZV = Zivilverteidigung. Thanks, Torsten.

Guys, this one appears to be yellow-piped:

                        Stonemint,

Thanks for the picture of the cap. That seems to settle the yellow pipping in wear by the DBP. The shape of the cap would put it in the 50s I would think.

                        Regards,

                        Gordon

this yellow piped tunic should be postal as well.
must be early and if anyone can put a date on it that would be great.

if it's not postal;please tell me what it is.

Found this photo while trolling around. Probably 50s/60s. Note the yellow-piped hat

I was wondering if that tunic from post 42 could belong to the visor that stonemint has posted in post 24 ?
cause if it does I'm afraid the tunic has to go to my unsolved mystery pile as well.
it stays in the same place then actually.
