I am now sharing an Arm patch of one of the units I've served with.
    Sich.Zg. I BMVg - Security Detachment I - German DoD, Bonn.
I'd say its a pretty rare patch.

      Towarish,

Interesting arm badge. Thanks for showing it. Were all the people in your unit Jaeger or was the unit drawn from different branches?

      Regards,

      Gordon

        Hi Gordon,

most of us were Jägers but we also had some Fallschirmjäger in our platoon.
My Zugführer was a Fallschirmjäger as well.

Towarish - Cool patch and beret!

Was there a color version of your patch?

          What was your unit mission?

Any pictures of you in complete uniform that you'd care to share?

After making these demands of you, I should at least thank you for sharing knowledge both on this thread and the thread on Bundeswehr steins.

We're looking forward to hearing from you again soon.

          Thanks - TJ

            Hey TJ,
unforunatly there was no color version of that patch.
Our task was to pull guard duty and guarantee security all around the DoD which is on hell of an areal.
We also used to work together with the Feldjäger detachment on base...they were pulling duty outside the "wire".
I'd really like to share more informations with you but its OPSEC.

During my work in the DoD. I used to be a patrol leader, ToPo (Torposten) or second guard commander

I am with another unit since my service in the DoD. If you want me to share more photos, just let me know.
Btw sorry for derailing the thread.

            Cheers
            Phil

              Phil,

You didn't derail the thread. We would like to see more photos of your time with this unit and with your reserve unit. I was going to ask you to start a thread on your reserve time and perhaps you could share your photos there. I'd like to know more about how the reserves function in the modern BW. IE How much time do you actually spend in unifor? How would your unit fit into the OOB should hostilities occur? Do members of the reserve do tours of duty outside of the country and if so where?

              Regards,

              Gordon

                Hey mate,
sure no problem. After the "old" concept of the Reserve was repealt within in the last years (Transformation of the Bundeswehr) and the Heimatschutzbataillone were all put down its like a new start for the Reserve. The DoD wants a smaller and more valuable Reserve. It's now more about personal motivation.
The active reservists are mostly deployed to active units and have a V-DP (Verstärkungs-Dienstposten) among their units. Which means they have confirmed post.
Anyway, the DoD is currently about to set up a few active Reserve-Btl.

Reservist do tours of duty i.e. Afghanistan, Kosovo.

Btw. One of the newly awarded soldiers with the "Ehrenkreuz der Bundeswehr für Tapferkeit" is from my Btl.

                More later.

                Phil

Sorry but no medical stuff to show at the moment. I did stumble across some Feldjaeger arm badges last night and I would like to add them here. Theye were in a Wiki article on German Military Police.

Cloth arm badges are worn by all ranks of the Bundeswehr on the left upper sleeve of the grey jacket.

Personnel that work at the "Feldjagerschule" in Sonthofen wear crossed swords with a small flaming grenade beneath. The same badge with an "L" beneath it is worn by demonstration units at the school whilst the badge with an "S" under it is worn by training staff, instructors and NCO students. In line with the Feldjager waffenfarbe, the border of the badge is coloured orange.

When in battledress the Feldjager also wear a brassard to indicate their duty status. There are two different versions of this brassard which is worn on the left arm. With the recent deployment of Feldjager into the NATO mission area of former Yugoslavia, a new brassard, with variations, has been seen to be in use. Note also the white band around the helmet, together with the goggles, the H&K MP5 being carried by the searcher.
