Here's the traffic baton. As we say in the U.S. Army, "you can't spell wimp without MP".

Oh, are you sure that is a Feldjäger item? The ones I am knowing have the inscription "Feldjäger" on the lower half in same colour and size than "Halt".

Would be interesting. Is there a Stocknumber on it?

            Hi guys !

A frien tells me he saw today sand colored BW jackets : inside of them there is a typical BW stamp.

Have you ever heard about them?

I got very few BW items, only the early items interest me and I'd like to know what you think about these sand colored jackets (early or late?)

            Thanks to all

              hi!

All three arms of service (Heer, Luftwaffe and Marine) had tan coloured tropical uniforms, but these weren´t combat uniforms but service dresses for military advisors and for wear on board in the Mediterean area or south atlantic/pacific.

Tunics, shirt, long trousers and sidecaps were used.

                wachregiment,

These tan uniforms were termed "sandfarben" and you find them most often for the Air Force and less seldom for the navy and the army. They were worn a lot by BW air force personnel serving in the U.S. I don't ever remember seeing them worn by the BGS but anything is possible.

                Regards,

                Gordon

Frank - Here's the back view. What do think? Polizei, DDR?

                      Thanks - TJ

                        I don´t know.
I am quite sure that it is West German. In our Fire Brigade we have exactly the same, but with the term "Feuerwehr" on the lower half. The police has "Polizei" and the Feldjäger "Feldjäger".

It seems to be used but without the names. I don´t know. There have to be a manufactirung date somewhere on it, maybe in the battery case?

                          Just found in the attic:

My first Feldjacke, made in 1985, I got it in mint condition in 1991. I can´t remember why I hadn´t added Oberfeldwebel rank slips and Rohrwaffenpersonal badge above the "V" (Versorgungspersonal, Logistic personnel), maybe I couldn´t find it then.

My map case. In 1995, when we got our Flecktarn suits and camo map cases and equipment nobody want it back, so it flew in my attic, too.

                          My first canteen.

Some of my comrades got these early pattern canteen. Mine was made in 1962 and was coated with an isolation paint. Like the map case, nobody asked for it when we got the new equipment.

That´s why I am having a lot of old "green aera" items scattered around and in my home.

They are are not very nice or collectable items, but I will keep them.

                            El Paso, Tx. - Sandfarben

Affirmative. By coincidence I just found one of my Dad's (Lw) sandfarben tunics in a box of stored-stuff. He received 3-4 sets before we were stationed in El Paso, Tx. end of the 80ies. He never wore them in tan during the time tough. Normal uniform end of the 80ies was green cotton, but no moleskin because of the temperatures.

I know from his photos that they did wear "sandfarben" on a daily basis in the 60ies though.

I had planned to take the jacket to the fry cleaners tomorrow anyhow. If anyone is interested I can post a photo later in the week.

                              Early BW camo

In the box of stuff I also found this field-made helmet cover, I bought in a surplus store in Oldenburg, while myself stationed in Varel with 4./FschJg Btl 313.

I believe these covers were made from early Bw-Camo Zeltbahn, correct?

I am thinking about having it repaired by a tailor here locally. Or should I be strict and maintain it the way it is now?
