In a few threads the question has been raised about repro Polish Cap Badges.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, here is an example of the type I personally would steer clear of .....

.. Note the "thinness" of the metal, .. the sharpe edges, and generally the all round impression of "suspect" ...

Gary, well spotted! It is really awful. In addition to that, it seems like it's been made of pure chrome, rather than nickel.

Parachute Regt dress uniform.

How about this? I seem to recall this tunic has been up for sale once before but did not make it's reserve?

I did a quick search on the name, if I have read it correctly as "Load" ? But did not come up with anything. Being a higher ranking Officer this should be researchable? It is not unknown for Dress (or Mess dress) uniforms to be sold on to other brother Officers by Officers who retired due to them being expensive to buy. So the name could be not the actual one to a member of the Parachute Regt? Of course the jacket could be a cobbled together fake too.

The seller has offered many doubtful items in the past 6 months and that particular tunic has been on ebay at least 3 times as far as I know. Suspect to say the least

HIYA DES , I have sold this guy quite a few items over the years hes an animal vet that breeds bull dogs ( im told ?)

he has over the last few years offered a lot of scarce special forces bits that on the surface look great but i felt ( imo) once you start digging ` grey areas ` appear ? Michael.

Hi Gary, did you see the one for sale last year at Ramsey? It was 1948 dated I think? Very small size, about a 36 chest, complete with trousers for £85. Kind of wish I had bought it now. But I recommended it to a friend's Dad to buy for his son who was rather down at the time. But I don't think he bought it.

Interesting, that just shows his cover story of selling items that belonged to a deceased family member to be complete bollox. I always knew it anyway because for a "non-collector" he certainly had some detailed descriptions.

I didn't actually see the one at Ramsey, ... but I don't really look at "mess dress" and the like ... only field gear. (Which would explain why If I saw it at Ramsey, I didn't give it a 2nd glance).
