I can smell that even in Holland!

Wonderful story btw. I've met the same vet on several occasions, and I have all his berets.

        Guys,

It is not a Denison, but what is it?

What do you think about this Pith Helmet, never seen one with leather around the peak, private purchase maybe?

              More bull.
And what a motherload of bull it is!
We should have an award for this stuff, shall we call it the "cunnard award"?

Concerning the question of Jeroen and Inhijherald: I think the unknown jacket is a despatchriders coat or Rubber-Proofed Coat, Pattern 1942 for motorcyclists. It's got nothing to do with a (Denisson) Smock and I have never seen a camouflaged version.

Here's one for the webbing anoraks:
                    weird water bottle carrier

I thought it might be P"44 so I showed it to Ade, but it's not P'44.
                    Any thoughts?

                    Cheers, Luc

I too would be really interested to find out what exactly this item is?

                      Cheers, Ade.

                        Hi Guys,

Is it not simply a British produced canteen cover made for the US army?

                        Comment

Hi Des, I don't think so, as other British made US items used the conventional M1910 fastener (the wire hanger) and this one has straps? As a result this one would ride high on the belt if used on the pistol belt, whereas if used on the cartridge belt it would cover one of the pouches.

                          Cheers, Ade.

The brass o-rings at the bottom are also found at the back of my (British) folding wire cutter pouch.
The lack of stampings make me doubt it is military at all.
                            Cheers, Luc

Although slightly damaged this is a bargain. Someone here might want to snap this up fast.
