Our fathers, our mothers was not a German band of brothers, because it did not focus on combat or on a group of soldiers. Meanwhile, BOB glorified it's vets, while Unser mutter certainly did not glorify their vets. In fact they painted to partisans and Russians in a much better light than they actually were.
And it was full of politically correctness, so it can hardly be considered an accurate portrayal of historical facts. This is the danger these movies pose on the minds of younger generation Germans and others. They are brain washed and therefore cannot be reconciled with past events.
I do not mean that Fury glorifies the war, but it certainly does not demonize US vets. There is no self flagellation.

All these comments about the reality of movies about WW2 and the perception of what is real is really bugging me. Very few people alive totady has any concept , even a remote concept of the reality of WW2. This applies to the reality across the globe. The reality of people living in the US where vastly different from the reality of American soldiers in combat. Same appliest to the reality of Germans in Germany and in combat and the experience all other nations.

The point being, modern society cannot handle the reality of the war years 39-45 and some. So portraying that reality accurately as entertainment in 2014 would just be foolish and keep in mind movies are entertainment (good or bad), but war is everything but that.

So all us armchair critics commenting about what the reality of ww2 is, should maybe rethink. We have no clue. Only when you were there have you earned the right to comment about the reality of that war. IMO. J

With "more realistic" I ment that you will not see something like a tank surviving several short range Panzerfaust attacks here. I hope you have seen the full movie and I am open to criticism and comments, but at least put some content in your answer so that we know why you liked or disliked it, which still remains a personal opinion to be respected by all people (living in a democracy. So I enjoyed this movie, first place in my top 10 of best war movies ever.

Lest we forget , the bottom line of any movie is entertainment, PERIOD!!

Here is the ' realistic' tank action,,,imagine Shermans/Tigers with a top speed of 3.5 mph, maneuvering across open fields almost track to track, that can evidently only turn with a huge effort and can only engage at point blank ranges with little effect.
To address the overall 'reality', the movie would have done OK if they had not made the final last stand scene last hours and make the SS appear to be buffoons with no training or efficient anti weapons or tactics and that could only do frontal assaults on the immobilized tank. Yay. Snipers at 50 meters...Yay ! Lets wait until the enemy is totally surrounding us before we attack, Yay ! Why , it would be stupid to open up on them enfilade as they marched down the road right at you. Right? That was so unreal and turned it into a fantasy , Hollywood cliche drivel that was barely watchable for the last 10 minutes or so. If you just are just starved to see anything WWII then it is worth going to, that is why I went to see it and it was a one hour drive one way for me to get to any theater! And finally, producers...stop trying to save a buck by hiring reenactors, unless 80% of them are in their late teens and early twenties and no one over 175 lbs or so! If none of that bothers you , then it is an entertaining film.

I have seen the trailers and that's one thing that crossed my mind, the clips showed the Tiger and the Sherman firing at each other at point blank range and nothing happening ??? whats all that about ?? is that how it really is in the movie ????

Finally saw it. The film had some very good points, but I did not know before seeing it that the Germans had such terrible aim.
