"FURY" [upcoming WW2 tank warfare film]

Saw it last night. As a 30+ year military veteran and a 40 year WWII collector and amateur WWII historian, I can honestly say it's in my top 5 Hollywood WWII movies.

It does rely on stereotypes for many of the characters and abbreviates the timeline for some of the scene building but overall an outstanding effort.

I have known military people over the years that match almost all the portrayed characters. And, strangely enough, I have been fired upon at close range by an enemy combatant and been missed. (My vehicle was much bigger than an M4 Sherman.)

Just my opinion.

I just saw some clips of the movie..and form what I have seen...its an insult.....its just so bad and out of a comic book......,


a Sherman ronson gets hit by a panzerfaust and doesn't light up...let me guess a glitch...jajajjajajajajaj


as in private rayan.....the Germans cant shoot.....and the GIs score every hit...and kill germas like flys and by the thousand........who can actually believe this......

I spoke to a bunch of people who have nothing what so ever to do with
collecting or the military and they all said it was a hugely entertaining and
well worth watching must see.
That's the 99% of people they MADE the movie for not the 1% of whingers
and complainers on this forum.

This is what I sent to a friend regarding Fury:

"It was visually stunning and the uniforms/equipment were very good but that's where it ends. The actual story was okay but the acting was over the top, especially from Brad Pitt. After seeing this and Inglorious Bastards, you could be forgiven for thinking that Brad Pitt thinks that every German was a diehard Nazi and the SS were the epitomy of evil. I'm glad that I went to see it but may only think about watching it again if someone gave it to me for free."

All that being said, I don't discourage anyone from going to see it as you may really enjoy it. After all, we are all different and have differing opinions.

in fairness how can you judge a film on a few clips ? Watch the whole thing ,your opinion might be the same but at least it ll be a more informed one

I went to the film thinking I would find fault with ease.

Instead to my delight it worked in every way. Sure if I wanted to nitpick I could find something but I do not need to. The movie worked, it did what it said it would do. It is a good war film. right up there with the best.

The other test, the people I went with. I was the only Militaria collector. They had a passing interest in Military history but beyond that not much more. They really enjoyed it and were quite excited they had gone to see it. The Tiger scene was right on the money for them.

I do not think Brad Pit was over the top. In my younger days I worked with an American who was sent as a replacement at the end of the Battle of the Bulge. He told me that as a young man over in Europe he hated every German as a Nazi. One example he gave, was some prisoners they took at the end of the Bulge battle. They had USA boots on so he made them take them off and walked them in their bear feet till they froze blue. Every one of those German prisoners lost his feet. Later in life he told me he was wrong to do that but at the time he actually enjoyed it. I feel the film captured this attitude of the time.

My only complaint Owen, no "Pink Smocks" to be seen . Now where is the historical accuracy of that, I ask you

After reading all the comments, I'm ready. I learned this is the most realistic and least realistic war movie ever. Brad Pitt is great and terrible. The Germans are portrayed as horrible dumb fighters and elite warriors. The Cinematography is superb yet so dark it sucks. The americans are blood thirsty POW killers and the Americans are heroes. The plot is horrible and the story is great! The battle scenes are shockingly real, yet fake as can be.

Looking forward to the best worst movie ever! Cheers!
