    Yes, you guys are right! I have to tone it down and I will 'wash" them (meanwhile three planes: one on the catapult, one hanging at the crane and one folded in front of the hangar). The whole ship will be washed at the end anyway with a light oil paint grey solution followed by a touch of dull colored finish to fix the pastell chalk (which I also still have to do).

    It is a lot of fun but the 3500 photo etched parts (not all I will use...) drive me nuts sometimes.

    Jeff, thanks for the picture. I have a "model" folder printed out (in addition to the "Anatomy of a Ship Bismarck) and will add it. Without additional pictures building on that level is impossible.

    Are you doing commission builds when this one is finished?
    It all depends! Time frame, subject, price, ...

      Very beautiful. I like how much detail the Revell kit has!

      I think I remember reading about the Bismarck, and how almost immediately it left the dry dock, they painted over the deck swastika to avoid enemy plane attack. I guess yours will be freshly built and christened.

        Hi Dietrich, Here is a wonderful book I have had for many years. It is reasonably priced and is filled with incredible detailed pictures of the Bismarck. I highly recommend it.

          The Revell kit has a greater detail than the Tamiya kit, no doubt. But what you see in the pictures are the photo etched details from Lion Roar.
          The swastika was painted on in March 1941 (long after the comissioning) and was painted over on 24. May 1941.

            I can second the praise words for the visual quality of this book, as Jeff has said, is a very good source of rare photos and details of this ship. I have it and must say that the amount of rare photos of the details,inside and out of the ship is very good.

            Your model looks spectacular and all that additional detail and paint detailing have made this a museum piece, is SUPERB!!!

                    Loving it!

                    Another small suggestion. The black and white strippes on the hull. Rub the edges down with very fine wet and dry paper and then seal with matt or semi matt lacquer.

                        Hi Dietrich, try a 600 grit wet or dry used wet. It works much better wet in my experience.
                        Your magnificent ship is pogressing nicely! All that photo-etch with my shaking hands is enough to cause me a nightmare. Applying that stuff is not easy! Well done.

                                WOW....the model look simply stunning!!!!....and is not even finished

                                Love the look of all that fine detail you added and the wood deck look superb, I was going to buy the Tamiya one, but after seeing you build progress report, I just purchased the Revell one.

                                Can't wait to see it all finish and with the rigging.....magnificent job, congratulations on a great model
